Identifying the ErrElemMissingSection elements

When the error ErrElemMissingSection pops up, the Visualization module can be used to identify the elements to which this error is attributed. The Abaqus processor writes the error sets to the ODB, which can be accessed in the Visualization module.

To view the elements:

  1. Double click the Display Groups in the Results tree.
  2. In Create Display Group dialog box, select the Item Elements
  3. In Method, select Element sets
  4. The elements set would be shown on the right. Select ErrElemMissingSection and toggle on Highlight items in viewport to see the elements with the error. (You can perform Boolean on the viewport contents for better visualization using the buttons on the bottom)

  1. When I click on “Element Sets” in the Method box I get the error popup box saying “The Selected option is not available for Preprocessing Models”

  2. This option is used in the Visualization module, i.e once you have your .odb files after you run the job.
This option can also be accessed even if the job has not been completed and has been aborted due to some error, given that the .odb file has been generated in the process.

  3. I submitted a job for analysis and get the same issue as Brown. My model is an orphan mesh that was exported from gmsh, so I had to assign material properties to element sets within the input file before loading it in abaqus.

  4. my job is aborted due to “ErrElemMissingSection elements” error and in display tree in visualisation mode following error occurs-there is no output database associated with this viewport. what should i do now
